Is this occur in any scene or only some?
We also should include time to show a dialog for merge. It is nearly one second.
Also, note that checking the assets in use also affects the merge time.
In the future, I’ll add an option to disable auto-relinking on merge.
Could you please create a video of the process of merging with Project Manager and with the default 3ds max dialog?
Please restart 3ds max between sessions. Merging the same model on the same session a second time might be faster, so restarting 3ds max will allow us to evaluate the time.

What version did you try to install, what version did you have before installing?
3Ds Max version (SP and Updates)
Also, check if you did not place an MZP file to one from the auto start directory.
Check if you don’t use the network path for 3ds Max temp or for script directories.
