By default, Windows processes zip and rar (rar since the last Windows update) as directories.
To show these file types in the listview panel, disable process them as folders.
You can do this by adding the next data to regedit

      [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CompressedFolder\CLSID]
      [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.rar\CLSID]
      [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.zip\CLSID]

Sign out after changing the registry
PS. Be careful when changing the registry

      Hello
      Thanks for the bug report.
I tested the files that you sent and neither of them doesn’t contain the required information
Usually, such files are saved with 3Ds max older than the 3Ds Max version.
In any case, these files can`t be relinked with the “fast mode” option.
You can always test them manually using 3ds max script commands

      getMAXFileAssetMetadata @”001_Vray.max” — undefined
      getMAXFileAssetMetadata @”002_Vray.max” — undefined

      getMaxFileVersionData @”001_Vray.max” — undefined
      getMaxFileVersionData @”002_Vray.max” — undefined

Just uncheck the “fast mode” option to relink

There are a few reasons why you can get this message.

      1. You tried to relink files of the newer version of 3Ds Max.

      2. Files don’t contain assets.

      3. You use the Fast-Relink option with files older than 3Ds Max version 2010.

If you still need to help please generate the support request and attach a few from these files

      Please try version 3.23.42
You can download the latest version from the dashboard.
Auto-updater will be triggered in a few days if there’s no critical issue found.

Soon I will release an update that should solve some issues with slow file display when using the method you are using.
Ultimately, the user should choose how it is more convenient for them to organize folders.
      Thank you for your feedback!

Yes. That a LOT of subdirectories. I already tried to make all assets in one folder, textures in another. But became a mess very fast.

So you place all files separately but want to see them in one directory.

I updated to 3.23.40, “Allow” was already ticked. Do I need to click something? Like “Update cache” or cache directories?

No. It will work without any advanced settings.

Currently, I’m testing a configuration like yours (but on Windows 10) and it works slowly even with caching.
Later I’ll try again on Windows 11.

Do I need to convert to catalog? Leave it like directory or doen´t matter?

      No matter. As you wish

PS. To faster caching keep 3ds max opened at night or weekend.
Usually, a few hours should be enough to cache almost all assets.

Drive D as I understand is a mapped drive?
As I see it so slow if a directory contains a lot of subdirectories and the option shows files in subfolders is on.
This is the main reason that it shows files slowly.

But since version 3.23 Project Manager allows caching assets, so after caching, files will be shown a lot faster.
The last version (3.23.40) improved some changes for caching, so download and install the latest version and turn on caching (by default it is on, so just check)
Note that caching might take a lot of time depending on the number of used directories.

It’s definitely not the normal speed of working and XYplorer might cause such behaviour.
Please try to uninstall/or disable it and write if this helped.

Don’t forget to restart Windows after disabling XYplorer

First, write a video to understand the level of the problem and generate the support request. Post the video here or send the link to support@3d-kstudio.com

XYplorer also might cause this problem.

Project Manager uses some system capabilities and XYplorer might conflict with the plugin.

When did this problem occur first?

PS. Some customers reported that Windows 10 with updates KB5027215 or KB5028166 might case such problems.

      Check and uninstall these updates
