Hi. The installer crashes 3dsmax. This is happening on the last two updates (up to and including v3.19.08). When update installer runs it completes with succesful install but the K-studio install window hangs and crashes max. Can we fix this for future updates? Thanks.

Installer didn’t change a lot of time. Check for changes, new scripts or plugins, that you installed in 3ds Max, or updated latest time

Same thing happening to me here – the installer window gets minimized in the bottom left corner and locks any possibility to do whatever, lost work, had to force quit 3dsmax to get it to run and I didn’t get to be able to save… :(

Please provide more information
What version did you try to install, what version did you have before installing?
3Ds Max version (SP and Updates)
Also, check if you did not place an MZP file to one from the auto start directory.
Check if you don’t use the network path for 3ds Max temp or for script directories.

No network paths in any of the underlined locations

Max does not crash, it hangs despite having the app showing as running in task mgr, and it is the installer hanging it, because it stays minimized, unaccessible on the bottom left corner of the monitor where max was running. Clicking it is useless, just as pressing alt or ctrl+tab won’t bring back the installer window either, after it downloads itself to the computer .

Is there anything else you would need from my side? .

I see this post is closed, but I don’t see a resolved answer? I have had the same problem every time I update kstudio. Max crashes (2023, 2024) but when you hover over the program icon on taskbar, it shows a kstudio installer dialoge saying update is finished, but you can’t click on it, and when max is maximised, the kstudio window is not in front. I have to reboot max every time, never had a successful installation that didn’t crash max.

If clients do not provide any information about the problem, and it cannot be reproduced, then the ticket is closed.

Please try version 3.23.20
You can download the latest version from the dashboard.
Auto-updater will be triggered in a few days if there’s no critical issue found.
