      Nothing changes in 3.23.42. BUT….

I tested now with PM not maximized on screen and sow some errors in Maxcript Listener. I´ll paste here:

1: SQLite error (5): database is locked in “SELECT name FROM sqlite_master WHERE type=’table’ AND name !=’sqlite_sequence’;”

      2: SQLite notice (283): recovered 17 frames from WAL file C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2022 – 64bit\ENU\scripts\Kstudio\ProjectManager_3\Settings\AssetSQLiteCache.db-wal

      2: SQLite error (17): statement aborts at 213: [SELECT filedata.ID as Parent_FileID, GROUP_CONCAT(DISTINCT(directory.ID || ‘$’ || directorydata.Path)) as CategoryData,childFileData.ID as FileData_ThumbID, childFile.ID as ThumbnailI

I´ll download it now. My version is 3.23.40. Check Update direct from PM is: “You are using lastest Project Mananger version (3.23.40).” No update available

      I´ll download it manually. Thanks

      Hi.

I leave PM opened all day yesterday to process database. Nothing changes in terms of speed. I think my organization is not compatible with PM system. :(

Well, maybe reset or delete database to refresh all thumb and folder structure may work. I dont know how to do this properlly…

Meanwhile I tested another asset mananger (that I dont like so much as yours) to test speed. It´s work for see thumbnails and speed is fine, like browser. Works fine to see and navigate. But I noticed one difference: It needs to scan to match all .max files with related thumbnail. After scan, works fine. In help they explain: It needs to scan to link exactly to avoid speed flaws. (if you need, I post link)

Well, Im gonna wait for some sollution in future update. I dont have plans to explode my folders and join all max with thumbs. It wont work for me to organize in a batch.

Anyway, thanks for support and attention.

      Cheers.

      Hi Kramer,

Drive D is a local drive (8TB Seagate IronWolf). Exactly to avoid lan limitations. I have a little server and use Synctrazor to make it all synced (just backup) when I update something in my library.

      • Yes. That a LOT of subdirectories. I already tried to make all assets in one folder, textures in another. But became a mess very fast. If I delete a .max file, I cant know what is the texture related. If I move some .max, I need to find textures… Well, I think this was the best solution for me so far. I agree this probably make it slow, but I cant found better solution yet.
      • I just turn thumbnails on on last folder, before assets, with option “Show One Level” on, to avoid read many folders.

I updated to 3.23.40, “Allow” was already ticked. Do I need to click something? Like “Update cache” or cache directories? Or just leave it on?

One question: I just add my main folder do models tab. Do I need to convert to catalog? Leave it like directory or doen´t matter?

      • I tried remove XYplorer and a bunch of softwares that Im not using anymore.
      • Clean registry with CCleaner
      • Update windows
      • Restart
      • Clean again, remove all programs from icon tray, restart process (windows update and CCleaner)

After all tests, PM still slow with mananging folders.

My guess: It´s trying to see thumbnail from a .max file that already has a JPG with same name. Is there a way to disable it? Always that a find a .max without thumb, I manually rename to match.

I tried to not pass 500 folders with assets in a single folder. Bu problem occurs with any amount of folders…

Is there some config in database, SQL or something that I cant understand to try?

I uploaded the video to a private link: https://youtu.be/wZtSh05gi4o

      You´ll sse:

      1. I mananged my folder in windows explorer (no thumbnails)
      2. I mananged my folder in XYplorer (to see thumbnails)
      3. I mananged folder in Kstudio. I removed last week other folders to fast up a little bit. Note how slow is to change folder.
      4. I come back to XY and navigate to same folders to compare.

Sorry for no audio, my mic is unpluggled and english is not my native language.

Yes, in explorer its all fine. Actually, I have XYplorer to see thumbnails too. Windows explorer and XYplorer its all fine, the same.

Should I record the video and post here or in “Support request”?

      Thanks

Hi, I´m having same trouble, but with a message a little different:

      — Runtime error: .NET runtime exception: Illegal characters in path.

      What can I do?

      Thanks.

      Hello,

Is there a way to ignore extension of the texture? Example: I converted several heavy TIF textures to JPEG. It would be nice if there is a option to ignore extension and replace in material. Thanks.

Ok, I´m finding and renaming thumbs files. It´s a very manual process, but it´s pontual.

But, in project mananger, is there a way to show only files that don´t have thumbs associated?

I just need to see what I need to work on and avoid keep scroll for hundreds of files to find this ones.
